Create your first NetSeller theme
Create a child theme to replace one template while inheriting the remaining storefront from default.
1. Add a manifest
Section titled “1. Add a manifest”On your computer, create:
example/ theme.json pages/ index.cfmUse theme.json:
{ "key": "example", "name": "Example Theme", "version": "1.0.0", "parentTheme": "default"}Theme keys use lowercase letters, numbers, underscores or hyphens. Match the directory name to the key.
2. Override the homepage
Section titled “2. Override the homepage”Add pages/index.cfm:
<cfset viewModel = routeConfig.viewModel><cfoutput> <section class="example-home"> <h1>#encodeForHtml(viewModel.branding.name)#</h1> <p>Welcome to our example storefront.</p> </section></cfoutput>This replaces the homepage content. The inherited layout and other page templates remain available. It does not render the configured homepage sections.
3. Install and activate
Section titled “3. Install and activate”Zip the example folder itself so the archive contains example/theme.json. Follow Install and activate to upload the ZIP, then select Example Theme for the target shop.
Open the homepage: it should display the shop name and example text. Open a product page to check that parent templates still render.
Continue with Manifest and assets to add your CSS, then use the template reference to replace other parts of the storefront. For a complete package with its own presentation, start from the reference theme.
